“The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.” ~ John Buchan

Situated in the beautiful and unspoilt Indre region of France, Le Moulin du Mee offers fully inclusive carp fishing holidays for the more discerning angler. With a stunning 15 acre lake, plus a second 4 acre lake, all situated in 40 acres of woodland and meadows, it is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some fabulous carp fishing.

We belive that we have a venue that in the coming years will establish itself amongst the best in France and am committed to work as hard as necessary to make it so. As a family venue we are on site 24/7 to ensure that your holiday is one to remember for all the right reasons.

Take a few moments to view our gallery where you will see some of the pristine carp in our lakes, then visit the Testimonials page where you can read what our guests thought of us.

LE MOULIN DU MÉE carp fishery is a family run business owned by Jim and Charlotte Everiss who together with son Jim jnr are determined to create the sort of venue that anglers will return to again and again.

I (Jim snr.) have been a passionate angler for over 40 years and have been a carp angler for more than 30 of those. I have always regarded the environment that I fish to be equally as important as the fish I catch and have constantly sought the tranquil uncrowded lakes rather than the over fished circuit type waters. Here at Le Moulin du Mée I have tried to create a venue that I would love to fish – quiet, uncrowded, wonderful range of wildlife and carp that fight hard, are in superb condition and a pleasure to see on the bank.

I love French carp fishing and have fished some wonderful waters. I have also suffered the disappointments that many anglers experience and are determined that all our guests are given the highest levels of service possible, which together with a stunning lake and carp stock will ensure that the Le Moulin du Mée ‘French Experience’ will be one to remember.

“The fishing was excellent, and the quality of the carp outstanding - powerful fish, thanks again for looking after us so well, and for creating such a fabulous fishery - roll on next May!”

“Lee and I would like to thank you and your family for giving us a tremendous week at Le Moulin Du Mee I would have no reservation in recommending the venue for anyone looking for a good fishing trip supported by enthusiastic hosts who go that extra mile to make visitors welcome. I look forward to a return visit in the near future”.

Gordon and Lee O’Connor
“We came all the way from Holland not knowing what to expect. What we found was a fantastic environment and a beautiful lake. The owners, Jim, Lottie, Jim jnr. and Colin became our friends immediatly. After showing us the lake and the fishing spots we couldn’t wait to go fishing! With as a result, a total of 19 carps: 33 (Dutch) pounds, 31 pounds, 2 carps of 30 pounds, 29 pounds, 26 pounds and many more beautiful carps. We made reservation for four days, and these four days became unforgettable! The time being at Le Moulin du Mee was too short. But we’ll certainly come back! We will tell all our carp fishing friends about the incredibly beautiful fish in that wonderful lake in France. Once again we thank you for an unforgettable holiday.”

“Hi Jim,
I would like to say what a wonderful weeks fishing I had, all in all probably the best weeks fishing I have ever had. I think your fishery will turn in to something very special in a few years. The food and hospitality was second too none, the right combination for success.
Stuart Mullins.”

“Went for weeks fishing at Moulin du Mee and what a weeks fishing was had. Unbelievable amount of quality fish my mate Dave done better than myself and was well deserved as he moved to the fish and I decided on the static aproach. The hosts were exellent as was the food, a big thanks to Jim & Jimmy for all thier help always on hand if needed, and thanks to Lotty for the exellent grub. I can honestley say that it was the best weeks fishing I’ve ever had in France for allround sport and entertainment. Have booked for next Year 174 days to go!

IF CARLSBERG MADE A FISHERY IT WOULD PROBABLY BE LIKE THIS ONE!”

Tim Bucket
“What can I say about Le Moulin Du Mee, the words brilliant, fantastic, great don’t really do the venue justice. I probably had the best weeks fishing of my life. The fish are in superb condition and fight like Tigers. The swims are excellent with plenty of room with the trees well trimmed back to avoid causing problems with casting. Take a walk round the lake and you find yourself thinking “that looks carpy” at virtually every swim you come to, it is that kind of venue. The “Team” Jim,Lottie & Jim jnr are exactly that, a team, they are always on hand to give assistance or advice without being the slightest bit intrusive. The ammount of work they get through each day is remarkable and the lake reflects this. If any of you are thinking of a drive & survive trip to the venue then my advice is Forget It!!!, you will miss out big time, Lotties cooking is superb and you certainly don’t go hungry not after a full english breakfast including cereal and fruit juice and then a huge evening meal with wine or beer. During your weeks stay you are treated as a member of the family not just as another Punter. All in all it is probably well on the way to being one of the top venues for anglers that want a relaxing weeks fishing catching superb carp in excellent surroundings with facillities to match. So, Jim,Lottie & Jim jnr congratulations on a brilliant venue and I hope you reap the rewards that all your hard work deserves, I will certainly be returning and the sooner the better. Thanks for a great week guys.”

Chris (Bluecarper) from Talking Carp Forum.
“Daniel and I have a truly fabulous time, great fishing, great food and wonderful surroundings. Daniel just can’t stop talking about his holiday and is already badgering me for a return visit. I look forward to seeing you all again in October.”

“Hi Lottie and Jim
Sorry it’s taken a while to write but as ever there was plenty to do on my return! First off I would like to thank you both for a superb break. You really have bought a piece of heaven on earth at Moulin du Mee. As you are more than aware the fishing is great but the setting is stunning not to mention the food, tackle loan etc., etc. I am going to attempt to attach the photo as requested but bear in mind I am a numpty with these advanced calculators! I will be in touch again shortly for a repeat booking for next year but in the meantime if you want to use me for reference purposes etc please feel free. Once again thanks for a great week!”

Sam Oddy

“Hi Jim,
Sam and I arrived back in UK safe and sound - on schedule - after a terrific time! This was the best fishing I’ve ever experienced. The food, the place, the service, the fishing and atmosphere all came together to make a great experience and a truly wonderful holiday as well as a fishing trip. It is remarkable what you have managed to create in the short time you have owned the lake. If you can do that in 10 months, just think what the palce could be like in 5 years!. Anyway, I can’t wait to return.”

Le Moulin du Mée is situated in the Berry, which is part of the Indre region just below the Loire valley.

It is one of the relatively undiscovered parts of France and a centre for agriculture with sunflower fields interspersed with fields of maize, barley, etc. With the gently rolling landscape it is perfect walking or cycling terrain with many sleepy villages and forested area’s to discover. The local towns and villages all have markets where you can find locally grown produce, honey, cheeses and all manner of good things to eat.

The area boasts a great many Chateau’s including our very own Chateau du Mée which can be seen from the edge of our land. The chateau at Valencay is one of the grander castles in the area and hosts a variety of attractions including outdoor theatre and jousting at various times of the year.

For shopping we have our local town (15mins away) that has several supermarkets, garages and a variety of shops. Further afield (30 mins) we have the city of Chateauroux which is great for shopping, having a meal, or some serious spending !! The city of Tour is about one hour away and offers fabulous shopping (regarded as second only to Paris for style) as well as a lovely medieval centre full of bars and restaurants.

Typically of France just about every village has at least one bar, butcher, pattiserie and small general store, our local village also has a hairdressers, tabac and garage.

The climate is generally one of the best in France with long hot summers and mild winters……..great for fishing and also makes for superb growth of carp. In fact we are on the edge of the Brenne national park which boast ‘1000 lakes’ and has been used by countless generations for fish farming.

All in all, we love this area and feel that you will also.

Shower and toilet facilities are housed in ‘Frog Cottage’ and are modern, clean and spacious. We have one room complete with shower, basin and toilet and a second that will be available from 2009 complete with toilet, basin and kitchen sink unit that is perfect for washing up those plates, mugs, saucepans, etc.

Hot water is available 24/7 and both rooms have electric heaters just in case we have some unseasonal cooler weather.

Electric sockets are available for the charging of mobile phones, bait boats, etc.

We also have one caravan space with electric hook up. This is behind Frog Cottage, private and close to the shower facilities.

To the rear of the millhouse we have a large gravelled terrace complete with a pagoda style dining area for the use of our guests.

Water is clean and drinkable so no need for bottled water.

Etang du Mee is our largest lake at around 15 acres and home to a huge stock of carp. With beautiful tree lined banks and well seperated swims it is perfect for a stress free carping holiday. The water comes from our own springs and is filtered through chalk befor it arrives in the lake resulting in near perfect water quality. Depths vary from 5m at the vidange point to less than a metre at the shallow end of the lake. The main body of the lake averages around 1.5m - 2m with similar depths in the margins of ‘Home Bank’. The ‘Chateau Bank’ has shallower margins but a short cast will put your bait into some very productive water. In fact long casting is neither needed nor recommended with most fish caught within 50m and many far closer. The fishing opportunities are varied and besides a wealth of open water fishing you have a couple of small islands as well as some very interesting margin fishing.

The swims have been designed to offer plenty of options with lots of water to enjoy without the problem of being hemmed in by other anglers. We also have plenty of stalking opportunities and little corners to spend an afternoon when you fancy resting your swim. By restricting angling numbers we are able to ensure that our carp can grow naturally without the constant harassment seen on some waters and in turn remain in superb condition. Our carp have already gained a well earned reputation for their fighting ability and quite often you will have no idea just how big it is until you see it in the net. Regular visitors to Le Moulin du Mee well know that until the fish is in the net you really will have no firm idea of the size !!!

I often say that a fishing holiday is not just about catching and here at Le Moulin du Mee we feel the general ‘ambiance’ of the environment is the perfect antidote to the stress of life back home. Wildlife is aboundant and, whether it is the cuckoo calling in the spring or the nightingales singing on a summers evening, you will enjoy the feeling of being close to nature as you fish.

Poplars lake is around 4 acres and currently used as our stock lake. We now have in the region of 200 carp stocked to be ‘grown on’ and ranging in weight from high singles to mid 20’s. In addition there are a couple of catfish to add a little variety to proceedings. The lake is not fished on a regular basis but available to anglers fishing Etang du Mee who fancy a little light relief from ’serious carping’!!. It has become popular with several of our parties as a perfect lake to spend an afternoon having a competition. Regular Du Mee visitors known as ‘The Crazy Gang’ have actually established an annual competition on Poplars …. I might add that it is also where I am regularly cheated out of prized!!!

The lake will be undergoing quite a few changes in the coming year with beds of lilies being planted and perhaps an island created to add to its attaction. With a plantation of Poplars on one side and a backdrop of Etang du Mee on the other it really is a lovely place to spend an afternoon or two.

With a total stock of carp amounting to just over 500 we have experienced another season of consistant catches and superb growth rates. As is to be expected as the carp get bigger they also get a tad wiser so the fishing becomes more challenging however as the challenge gets bigger so the prize also gets bigger and in 2010 we are expecting at least 6 of our known high 40’s to be breaking the 50lb barrier. In addition we are expecting a great many of the high 30’s caught in 2009 to have moved into the 40lb+ bracket by the time the new season commences.

Total catch for 2009 is as follows.

48 x 40lb + carp

353 x 30lb+ carp

979 x 20LB+ carp ( including 453 over 25lb)

305 x doubles

8 x singles (I think that a good few more were caught but not recorded).

A grand total or 1693 carp.

We also had a dozen cats up to 55lb landed.

Total catch for 2009 is as follows - 48 x 40lb + carp , 353 x 30lb+ carp, 979 x 20LB+ carp ( including 453 over 25lb), 305 x doubles, 8 x singles.

One thing that is very clear is that with our present growth rates our average carp will be very near the 30lb mark in 2010 and there should be a great many new 40’s coming through with our first 50’s expected early in the season. With 6 seperate carp ( 3 commons and 3 mirrors) weighing in at over 45lb in 2009 we are very excited with the prospects for the coming year.

2010 is getting close to being fully booked, however there are still a few spaces dotted round so drop me an email for the latest availability.

Our blog at www.carpdreams.wordpress is where you will find regular updates as to happenings and catches at Le Moulin du Mèe as well as pictures throughout the season.
